The Portland Restaurant Workers Association (PRWA) is hosting a Discussion Forum Series to bring together food service workers to discuss, educate and share experiences on topics and issues important to workers in the restaurant industry. The initiative is to build community and empower workers with the knowledge about their rights on the job. Below is a list of upcoming forums, click the titles for more information. Ergonomics Class for Restaurant WorkersTuesday, July 7 Restaurant work is hard on your body. Come learn exercises and body postures to protect yourself from strain and injury on the job.This class is designed especially for restaurant workers combining the latest ergonomics data from OSHA with yoga techniques to keep your body in tip-top shape. Please wear comfortable clothing as this class requires The class is open to all restaurant workers and allies. |

Sexual Harassment Policy WorkshopTuesday, June 2 This is the second part to the “Sexual Harassment in Restaurants” forum sponsored by the PRWA. Although the EEOC has sighted restaurants as the top source of sexual harassment claims and the Department of Labor requires public businesses have policies that protect workers from sexual harassment: restaurants have been slow to act. The workshop will focus on developing a comprehensive sexual harassment policy for restaurants and a brainstorming session to create solutions to this serious problem in the industry All restaurant workers and allies are encouraged to join. |
